Barrier Highway
Upgrade

We are upgrading the Barrier Highway as part of a $3 billion investment in regional roads.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government is investing close to $3 billion to build new roads in our regions and improve the maintenance of existing ones.

This includes $62.5 million to upgrade the Barrier Highway between Cockburn and Burra – approximately 305 kilometres of highway passing through the townships of Olary, Yunta, Terowie, Hallett and Mount Bryan.

This important upgrade will help people and freight get around quicker and safer and could include shoulder sealing, bridge widening, improved rest areas, resurfacing and intersection upgrades.

After years of Labor neglect, regional South Australians finally have a government that is creating jobs and improving infrastructure and services in the regions.

This project is part of our record $17.9 billion Building What Matters infrastructure program which is creating thousands of jobs and improving the lives of South Australians.

What it means for you

  • Getting you home, to work or to your holiday quicker and safer
  • Freight can move more efficiently, supporting regional economic growth
