Set up local health boards and a Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health. Improve outpatient waiting times and information, reduce the misuse of prescription drugs, make palliative care outreach services available 24/7 and invest in preventative health.
The Marshall Liberal Government is investing a record $7.85 billion in our health system in 2021-22 – $1.35 billion more than in the last year of the former Labor government.
South Australia has more doctors, nurses, midwives and ambulance officers than ever before in the state’s history. We tore up Labor’s contract to sell off the Repat and we are fixing Labor’s ambulance ramping legacy by expanding and upgrading hospitals right across the state.
Just like we said we would, we set up local health boards and we established a Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health.
We provided additional funding to reduce waits for elective surgery and colonoscopies and the maximum waiting time for outpatient services has been reduced since we formed government.
Just like we promised, we acted to reduce the misuse of prescription drugs through the introduction of real-time monitoring of prescription medicine and we have expanded palliative community outreach services to operate 24/7.
And we have invested in preventative health measures including providing almost $34 million for a life-saving, world-first, free Meningococcal B program for babies, young children and adolescents.
