What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government is delivering more convenient, better public transport for South Australians.

Just like we promised, we created an experienced, independent transit authority – the SA Public Transport Authority or SAPTA – responsible for delivering more customer-focused services.

We introduced free inter-peak travel for primary school students travelling on school excursions.

We ran a successful trial of ‘tap on’ technology on the o-Bahn and this technology is now being expanded to our entire public transport network.

We successfully trialed on-demand, uber-style buses in Mount Barker and the Barossa Valley and we are doing a planning study into rapid bus transport options for the hills.

We know that a good public transport experience starts before people even get on a train and that’s why we’re also spending almost $100 million to upgrade railway stations right across Adelaide. These upgrades will include safety improvements, new shelters, more seating, painting and landscaping.

We are also extended the Tonsley railway line to Flinders University and Hospital and are delivering a major upgrade of public transport infrastructure including electrifying the Gawler line and building three new park ‘n’ rides in the north east.
