Bushfire Response
and Recovery

We stood shoulder to shoulder with those affected by the devastating 2019-20 summer bushfires - providing emergency grants and help to rebuild for people and businesses.

What we've done

The 2019-20 summer bushfires devastated businesses, communities and the environment in the Adelaide Hills and on Kangaroo Island.

The Marshall Liberal Government responded quickly and decisively – standing shoulder to shoulder with those affected and providing immediate relief. We provided millions in support for loss of income, recovery and personal hardship grants to families and businesses and we boosted mental health support.

We worked hard to repair the damage to the environment and infrastructure as quickly as possible – cleaning up, restoring wildlife habitat and re-building damaged roads and buildings.

And to reduce future risks, we have implemented fire hazard reduction measures across our state. We have also invested heavily in our emergency services, including delivering new and improved fire trucks and more staff to ensure that, when disasters do strike, we are as prepared as possible.
