Cementing South Australia’s
Future as the Defence State

South Australia is the defence state and we will ensure our local workers are upskilled and ready to work on the biggest defence project in the nation.

What we'll do

A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will invest nearly $4 million to ensure South Australia has the 5,000-person, skilled workforce it needs to build Australia’s new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.

We will establish a South Australian submarine taskforce that will work closely with the Australian Government's Nuclear-Powered Submarine Taskforce to ensure we maximise the benefits of this project for South Australians.

We will ensure that our defence manufacturing sector and workforce are represented at the highest levels as the AUKUS program gets underway.

We also want to ensure that we have the most skilled workforce in the nation – ensuring defence jobs stay in South Australia.

We will invest $3 million to train and upskill workers in vital defence micro-credentials, ensuring we have thousands of workers ready to go as soon as the AUKUS jobs start flowing.

South Australia’s defence industry is already leading some of the most significant maritime and naval shipbuilding projects in the history of our country and we are future proofing this vital industry for our state.

What it means for you
