The Marshall Liberal Government has increased support and funding for our multicultural communities and has reformed our multicultural laws.

What we said we'd do

Review the South Australian Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Act 1980 (SAMEAC Act).

What we've done

Just like we promised, the Marshall Liberal Government reviewed the SAMEAC Act, conducting extensive community consultation before drafting and legislating the South Australian Multicultural Act 2021.

We have created the Multicultural Commission, we are developing a Multicultural Charter and our new legislation also formalises our commitment to serve and deliver for South Australia's multicultural community.

We have modernised the language used to refer to multiculturalism and our Multicultural Charter will lay a foundation for the development of future government policies and better services for our diverse community.

As part of our last budget, the Marshall Liberal Government provided an additional $2 million to enable eligible multicultural organisations to purchase new equipment, build new facilities and upgrade existing infrastructure.
