We are delivering the Murray-Darling Basin Plan and new water infrastructure to secure the future of one of our most precious resources - supporting our farmers and our regions, and creating thousands of jobs in the process.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government is delivering a range of water infrastructure projects that are enhancing our state’s water security, creating jobs and delivering on the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

We're spending over $1 billion on SA Water infrastructure to improve water treatment processes, reduce the cost of water, and prevent the burst mains that cause property damage and frustration for motorists.

We're delivering on the Murray Darling Basin Plan – on time and in full – supporting our farmers while ensuring we protect our environment and the lower lakes for years to come.

These projects not only secure the future of one of our most precious resources but they also create thousands of jobs.

What we'll do

A re-elected Marshall Liberal government will:

  • Continue to work collaboratively with all basin jurisdictions to ensure the Basin Plan is delivered in full and on time.
  • Insist that a detailed and credible “Roadmap to 2024” be prepared with input from all Basin jurisdictions as soon as possible.
  • Pursue its options for legal action in such circumstances that there is no credible, timely pathway to the agreed water recovery targets in the Basin Plan, or if any Basin jurisdiction walks away from the Basin Plan.
  • Continue our huge investment in infrastructure projects to improve water security and quality, including for our regions. As part of this, we will
    • ensure all regions in the state have Water Security Strategies that take into account climate change pressures, including a Remote Community Stocktake
    • commit to delivering against the actions outlined in the Marshall Liberal government’s Urban Water Directions Statement
    • continue to diversify the state’s water supply portfolio, including a critical focus on stormwater and reuse options.
  • In conjunction with Green Adelaide, local government and SA Water, develop a whole-of state Greening and Cooling Action Plan.
  • Examine SA Water’s role in providing water services for recreational and liveability purposes.
