Empowering Women
Through Skills

We’re focused on ensuring our young girls thrive now and into the future – with more opportunities to pursue STEM careers and more economic security.

What we'll do

A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will help more young women to pursue opportunities in careers of the future like defence, cyber and space by investing an additional $500,000 per year to double the number of public high school Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) scholarships available.

The scholarships – worth up to $10,000 each – help cover the cost of tutors, IT equipment, or any other strategies that directly support the student to achieve in their chosen STEM subjects.

This commitment follows the recent release of the Marshall Liberal Government’s new women’s policy – South Australian Women’s Leadership and Economic Security Strategy 2021-24 – a strategy that aims to ensure South Australian women have equal opportunities to contribute to and benefit from employment, entrepreneurship, leadership and economic security.

Financial wellbeing is one of the strategy’s three key pillars, ensuring more women are better educated in areas including financial literacy, superannuation and asset management.

That’s why we have also announced that a re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will invest in a series of new “Superwoman” superannuation seminars to improve women’s economic security by providing them with better information about options and opportunities.
