Eyre Highway
Upgrade

We are upgrading Eyre Highway as part of a $3 billion investment in regional roads.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government is investing close to $3 billion to build new roads in our regions and improve the maintenance of existing ones.

This includes a $125 million partnership with the Federal Government to upgrade Eyre Highway between Border Village and Port Augusta and the Eyre Peninsula roads impacted by the recent closure of the Eyre Peninsula rail network – namely Tod Highway, Birdseye Highway and Lincoln Highway.

Extending approximately 945 km, this upgrade will benefit hundreds of thousands of people in nearby townships and primary producers who now need to move agricultural produce by road rather than rail.

Improvements could include new overtaking lanes, intersection improvements, road widening, shoulder sealing and improved safety measures including audio tactile line marking and better signage.

This project is part of our record $17.9 billion Building What Matters infrastructure program which is creating thousands of jobs and improving the lives of South Australians.
