Add a fourth lane to Flagstaff Road, making it a permanent two-way dual carriageway.
The Marshall Liberal Government is upgrading Flagstaff Road, Darlington to provide a permanent two-way dual carriageway at this location.
Currently 800 metres of Flagstaff Road consists of only three lanes with the direction of the centre lane reversed twice daily to cope with peak hour traffic. This is confusing and frustrating for the 21,000 motorists who use this road every day and it has potentially deadly consequences.
Our $33 million upgrade will reduce confusion and congestion and improve efficiency and safety. It will also provide room to overtake slow-moving traffic and improve emergency vehicle access.
Construction is underway with the additional lane expected to be finished and open to traffic in early 2022.
This project is part of our record $17.9 billion Building What Matters infrastructure program which is creating thousands of jobs and improving the lives of South Australians.
