Upgrade services at Noarlunga Hospital, establish an acute medical ward and reduce the need for hospital transfers.
The Marshall Liberal Government has not only delivered on our promise to upgrade services at Noarlunga Hospital but we are also undertaking an $86 million expansion of hospitals and health services right across southern Adelaide.
We have delivered a 12-bed acute medical ward at Noarlunga Hospital which means that more patients can be treated locally, slashing around 1,000 ambulance transfers every year and easing pressure on the Flinders Medical Centre emergency department.
We have almost doubled the size of the Flinders Medical Centre emergency department, making it the biggest in the state with an extra 30 treatment spaces and an additional nine doctors.
And we have re-activated the Repat.
Our investment in southern hospitals and health services is part of a record $7.4 billion annual investment in our state’s health system to fix ramping, ease pressure on emergency departments and deliver better healthcare, closer to home.
A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will deliver a $20 million upgrade of Noarlunga Hospital to expand the Emergency Department and increase mental health services in the southern suburbs.
We will deliver 15 extra ED treatment spaces – taking pressure off the existing ED and the Flinders Medical Centre.
The upgrade will also provide better services to acute mental health patients – with the existing two person bedrooms on the Morier Mental Health Unit redesigned so that each patient has their own single room. This will make the unit better for patients and staff, and bring the facility up to best-practice.
