Cheaper Public
School Fees

We will lower the cost of living for South Australian families by providing a $100 discount per child on public school fees.

What we'll do

A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will give families a $100 discount per child on public school fees.

Currently, parents must pay $253 for a primary student and $334 for a secondary student to cover a materials and services charge. Some schools choose to set a higher rate.

A Marshall Liberal Government would discount this charge by $100 per student for two years – saving South Australian families $12 million per year.

The discount would be applied from the beginning of the 2022 school year, meaning refunds would be issued to all parents who have already paid the fee.

With the average household already $1,092 better off under the Marshall Liberal Government, this is another part of our plan to lower your cost of living.

What it means for you

  • Relieving some of the ‘back to school’ financial pressure
  • Less money on bills = more money in your pocket for the things that matter to you
  • Making South Australia an even better place to live, work and play
