We’re proud of South Australia and want to show off our state to the world. That’s why we're attracting new and lucrative events, boosting tourism and creating jobs.

What we said we'd do

Double South Australia's Event Bid Fund.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government more than doubled South Australia’s Event Bid Fund, taking the total funding available to $90 million over four years.

This enabled us to attract new and more lucrative events to South Australia including the Adelaide International tennis tournament. We also established a new major arts festival to bring high yield cultural visitors to the state – Illuminate Adelaide.

Major events already secured for the coming years include the Rugby State of Origin, the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Australian Masters Games.

Attracting new events to South Australia increases tourism, creates jobs and drives economic growth. It increases vibrancy in our city, fills our hotels, restaurants and cafes and showcases South Australia to the world.

What it means for you

  • More jobs in accommodation, hospitality, retail and other tourism related industries
  • You don’t need to leave the state to attend exciting events and festivals
  • More opportunities to showcase our great state to Australia and the world

Policy snapshot

  • South Australia’s Event Bid Fund is now $90 million – more than double what we promised.
