New and Upgraded
Sport Infrastructure

The Marshall Liberal Government is upgrading sporting facilities across the state, creating local jobs and enhancing South Australia’s reputation as a premier sporting destination.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government is upgrading grassroots and elite sporting infrastructure right across the state.

This means whether you play school sports, you’re a professional athlete or just a sports fanatic, you will benefit from better facilities and more international sporting events happening right here in South Australia.

Projects funded or already underway in our first term of government include:

  • A major redevelopment of Hindmarsh Stadium, bringing the venue to contemporary elite sport standard ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
  • Stage two of the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre upgrade
  • Major upgrade to South Australia’s home of netball at Mile End
  • A State Centre of Soccer at Gepps Cross
  • A new facility for the South Australian Sports Institute to provide world-class science and training facilities to our top athletes
  • A new ‘home for basketball’ with a significant upgrade to Wayville Sports Centre
  • Extra funding for Regional and District sporting facilities plus grassroots grants made available to ALL sports
  • Significant upgrades to walking and cycling networks

+ much more!

We have also committed to building a new 15,000-person, multipurpose indoor arena in the Adelaide Riverbank Precinct if we are re-elected.

What it means for you

  • Better sporting facilities for you, your family and your community
  • More opportunities to watch exciting international events right here in SA
  • Local jobs created in construction plus more jobs in tourism, events and hospitality as a result of attracting bigger and better sporting events to Adelaide
