A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will invest $65 million to make South Australia the home of modern, plant-based food manufacturing in Australia, opening new opportunities and creating jobs in this rapidly growing industry.
Partnering together with the Morrison Government and a consortium made up one of Australia’s largest family-owned food producers, Thomas Foods International, Australian Plant Proteins and AGT Australia, this $378 million project will transform plant-based food manufacturing in Australia.
Funding will enable the construction of three plant protein manufacturing facilities, quadrupling production capability in the state and creating new opportunities for farmers.
It will help meet growing domestic and international demand for this type of product and is expected to generate up to $4 billion in exports by 2032.
The project is expected to create 384 new direct jobs and support more than 8,500 new full-time positions in the supply chain and economy by 2034.
