The Marshall Liberal Government has invested more than $100 million in additional funding for our emergency services – including $10 million to upgrade CFS and SES stations.
We commissioned an independent review of the devastating 2019-20 summer bushfires and our response included $37 million for prescribed burns to help prevent future bushfires, $7.2 million for new CFS trucks and $4.7 million for more volunteer support staff.
We upgraded our firefighting equipment including installing Automatic Vehicle Location technology for more than 1,400 vehicles, fitting trucks with burnover protection equipment, providing eight additional aircraft to assist with aerial firefighting, and rolling out new personal protective equipment for firefighters.
We’ve also delivered a new MFS station in Mount Barker, invested $9 million for a new MFS station at Noarlunga and we're delivering more MFS trucks.
On our coasts, our surf lifesavers provide a vital emergency service and we have equipped all 22 surf lifesaving clubs in the state with drones to enhance shark surveillance capability.
We also delivered upgrades and new state of the art facilities to Surf Life Saving Clubs at Semaphore, Chiton Rocks, Aldinga, Goolwa and Port Elliot, with plans underway for Normanville and West Beach.
