No Payroll Tax
for Apprentices
and Trainees

We're removing payroll tax for all apprentices and trainees – it’s good for employers, it’s good for jobs and it’s good for the economy.

What we'll do

A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will remove payroll tax for all apprentices and trainees for two years – making it easier and cheaper for employers to create jobs and grow their business while providing vital training for young people.

This will save employers an estimated $18.2 million while ensuring there is a pipeline of jobs for future generations and highly skilled workers for businesses.

It’s good for employers, it’s good for jobs and it’s good for the economy.

And it builds on the huge tax relief we’ve already given to thousands of businesses over the past four years – including scrapping payroll tax for all small businesses in South Australia and removing payroll tax on apprentices and trainees to provide relief during COVID.

It will also help continue our national leadership in skills and training – with over 52,000 people commencing an apprenticeship or traineeship over the past four years.

While Labor’s high taxes made it uncompetitive to do business in South Australia, we are building a stronger future for South Australian workers, businesses and young people.

What it means for you

  • Less money on tax = more money for businesses to grow and create local jobs
  • More training opportunities for young people and skilled workers for businesses
  • Making South Australia the best place to live, work and run a business
