The Marshall Liberal Government is removing the level crossing at Ovingham and elevating Torrens Road over the Gawler and freight railway lines, getting rid of one of Adelaide’s most frustrating traffic bottlenecks.
Approximately 21,000 motorists who pass through this crossing every day will have a faster, safer commute, with waiting behind boom gates for a train to become a thing of the past.
And it’s not just motorists who will benefit from the Ovingham Level Crossing Removal Project. Residents in Renown Park, Brompton and surrounding areas will have access to new community spaces which include multi-purpose sports courts, nature play, artwork and a public plaza.
Construction is now underway on this job-creating project, with completion expected in 2023.
This project is part of our record $17.9 billion Building What Matters infrastructure program which is creating thousands of jobs and improving the lives of South Australians.
