No Payroll Tax for
Small Businesses

We delivered on our promise to ensure small businesses pay zero payroll tax, ending Labor’s jobs tax for over 3,200 businesses.

What we said we'd do

Scrap all payroll tax for small businesses.

What we've done

Within our first year, the Marshall Liberal Government delivered on our promise to scrap payroll tax for all small businesses in South Australia.

This benefited more than 3,200 South Australian small businesses and gave confidence to more than 135,000 micro businesses and sole traders who can now create more jobs knowing they won’t be hit with an extra tax as soon as they employ more South Australians.

On top of this tax cut, we also gave thousands of South Australian businesses a payroll tax holiday for over a year to give them every chance to keep their doors open and their hardworking staff in jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Labor’s jobs tax made it uncompetitive to do business in South Australia, no payroll tax for small business is only part of how we are delivering on our promise to lower costs for businesses.

Under the Marshall Liberal Government, the average annual cost of doing business in South Australia has reduced by over $4,900 while small businesses are saving $7,450 a year.
