A re-elected Marshall Liberal Government will deliver a $26.1 million upgrade of Port Pirie Hospital – delivering a brand-new Emergency Department, a new short stay crisis Mental Health Unit and more.
The new ED will have 50% more treatment bays, be staffed 24/7 and will have the provision for short stay beds – which the current ED lacks.
We will also build a new $1.1 million clinical health simulation lab to allow local nursing students to complete their training in Port Pirie without having to leave their families to study.
This means more nurses for the region.
This upgrade builds on our other important regional health commitments including $188 million to attract and retain country doctors, upgrading helipads used for medical emergencies, and doubling the PATS subsidy.
