The Queen Elizabeth
Hospital Upgraded

The Marshall Liberal Government is undertaking a huge $314 million redevelopment of TQEH to ensure residents in Adelaide’s western suburbs can access quality healthcare, closer to home.

What we said we'd do

Deliver more cardiac services at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital as part of a $270 million upgrade.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government restored 24/7 cardiac services at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH) within months of being elected and now we are delivering the rest of a significant $314 million upgrade of TQEH.

Construction is underway on a new intensive care unit, operating theatres and a much larger emergency department. We are also adding a 52-bed rehabilitation unit and additional areas for medical imaging, pathology and more.

An upgrade to TQEH was promised by Labor more than a decade ago but never delivered. Instead, Labor cut services as part of their failed Transforming Health experiment.

In stark contrast, our upgrade is modernising TQEH and increasing emergency, critical care and surgical services for patients in Adelaide’s growing western suburbs.

Our investment in TQEH is part of a record annual $7.4 billion investment in our state’s health system to fix ramping, ease pressure on emergency departments and deliver better healthcare, closer to home.

What it means for you

  • More beds and better services in better, local facilities
  • Pressure on our emergency departments is reduced, fixing ramping
  • You and your loved ones can get the healthcare you need, closer to home
