Upgrading
Sturt Highway

We are upgrading Sturt Highway as part of a $3 billion investment in regional roads.

What we've done

The Marshall Liberal Government is investing close to $3 billion to build new roads in our regions and improve the maintenance of existing ones.

This includes $87.5 million to upgrade the Sturt highway between Renmark and Gawler in partnership with the Federal Government.

Extending approximately 210 km, this section of Sturt Highway passes through the townships of Nurioopta, Truro, Blanchetown, Waikerie, Barmera, Berri and Renmark. This upgrade will benefit the tens of thousands of people that live in or between these regional towns.

The upgrade will include shoulder sealing, resurfacing, additional overtaking lanes, safety enhancements at key junctions, road widening and improved rest areas. We are also funding a Berri to Renmark road duplication planning study to investigate options for this increasingly busy section of road.

We are also investing an additional $202 to construct a bypass of the Truro township which will improve safety, amenity and freight efficiency at this location.

After years of Labor neglect, regional South Australians finally have a government that is creating jobs and improving infrastructure and services in the regions.

This project is part of our record $17.9 billion Building What Matters infrastructure program which is creating thousands of jobs and improving the lives of South Australians.
